The second step in a successful hunting season has occurred. I have obtained the necessary permission for my daughter and I to hunt in a friends woods. So now with license in hand and permission documents in hand, we are all but ready to go. Looking forward to a good start of a great hunting season. How about you? Do you have the permission? How many acres of woods do you hunt in?
Here in Ohio, hunting season (at least for what I'm hunting) opens September 1st. And what is even more exciting than the quickly approaching day is the fact that my youngest daughter just passed her Hunter's Safety Course and is now an official hunter in the state of Ohio. To celebrate, we went and bought the hunting license and then off to the range to shoot about 200 rounds.
We are looking forward to some nice father-daughter time as we hunt together and then cook up some yummy squirrel! Anyone hunt/eat squirrel and want to share a recipe? We would appreciate it. Leave a comment below and tell me about it!
I recently spent some time with a friend who leads/teaches survival classes in Montana. He tipped me off to this Solunar Forecast for hunting and fishing. Supposedly, it is designed to inform hunters and fishermen of optimal times to catch their game. I haven't had any experience with this, but hope to give it a go this season.
